STUDY ON THE BOTANICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND CHEMICAL COMPOSITION OF Calophyllum inophyllum L. (CLUSIACEAE) COLLECTED IN VINH LONG PROVINCE.

Abstract

This study investigates the plant Mu u (Calophyllum inophyllum L. - Clusiaceae), collected in Vinh Long, with the aim of elucidating its botanical characteristics and preliminary phytochemical composition. Regarding botanical characteristics, the study describes the external morphology of the plant, including stem, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds. In addition, microscopic analyses (anatomy and powdered drug characteristics) were conducted to support identification and quality control of the medicinal material. The results shown that Mu u possesses distinctive features that help differentiate it from other species within the same family. In terms of chemical composition, Mu u material was extracted and subjected to qualitative chemical tests to identify major groups of compounds. The results shown that Mu u contains some need to caring such as coumarins, flavonoids, tanin. These preliminary findings contribute to establishing a scientific basis for the identification, quality control, and utilization of Mu u as a medicinal plant, while also providing a foundation for further studies on its biological activities and pharmaceutical applications..
