Abstract

This paper elucidates the phenomenon of “Parody” in the reception and creation of literature and art - from its concept, characteristics, role, and significance to its limitations. It provides an overview of the “Parody” phenomenon in *The Tale of Kiều* and in Hồ Xuân Hương’s Nôm poetry; on that basis, it offers an in-depth analysis and interpretation to identify the rich, diverse, and unique manifestations of “Parody” in the poetry of these two great literary figures. The paper also proposes approaches and solutions for preserving and promoting the values of, as well as offering cautions regarding, the “Parody” phenomenon in *The Tale of Kiều* and Hồ Xuân Hương’s Nôm poetry.
