Abstract

This study analyzes the process of agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization (I&M) in the Mekong Delta (ĐBSCL) and draws practical lessons from An Giang province. Using document analysis, descriptive statistics, comparative methods, and a case-study approach, the research identifies major trends in structural transformation, technological adoption, and value-chain development in the region. Findings indicate that the Mekong Delta has achieved notable progress in agricultural restructuring, the application of advanced technologies, rural infrastructure improvement, and the expansion of value-chain linkages. However, persistent challenges remain, including small-scale production, low labor quality, and severe impacts of climate change. The experience of An Giang highlights the importance of value-chain integration, digital transformation, modern cooperative models, and human-resource development in accelerating I&M. The study provides practical evidence to inform policies aimed at fostering ecological, modern, and sustainable agricultural development in the Mekong Delta.
